How Balances and Statements Work

Your nostro accounts are held at the clearing system (CENTROlink or EKS), not in the Inventi Payment Platform. The platform keeps a running view of each nostro balance and stores the statements the clearing system produces. This page explains how the two fit together and what happens at the end of the day.

How the balance is calculated

The balance shown in the Dashboard and returned by the balances endpoint is a calculated value:
What this means in practice:
  • Every payment, return, reversal, liquidity transfer and fee processed through the platform moves the balance immediately.
  • Any movement on the nostro account that did not pass through the platform (for example a manual transfer made directly at the clearing system) is not visible until the next end-of-day statement is imported. At that point the balance is realigned to the statement.
  • Statements are the source of truth. Reconcile your ledger against them, and use the running balance for intraday monitoring and liquidity decisions.
The platform tracks balances only at nostro level. Individual customer IBANs registered in the platform do not carry balances - those live in your core system.

End of day

SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) and SEPA Instant (INST) use separate nostro accounts at the clearing system, and their end-of-day behaviour differs. All times are Lithuanian time. Consequences for you:
  • Do not treat a 0 closing balance on the SCT statement as missing funds; it is the daily sweep.
  • Transactions processed after the INST end of day (22:00 at CENTROlink, 21:00 at EKS) belong to the next statement day.
  • Balances for a given date are final only once the end-of-day statement for that date has been imported.

Statements

Statements are produced by the clearing system per nostro account and per business day, and become available in the platform after end of day. Use: For how to match statement entries with platform transactions, see Track Payments and Reconcile.

Business days

In production the platform follows the TARGET calendar: weekends and the six fixed TARGET holidays are not business days, regardless of local public holidays. In the TEST environment the clearing systems follow their own schedules, so behaviour on Lithuanian or Latvian public holidays can differ from production.
